Cost should never be the reason a child in Pittsburgh misses out on youth flag football. Pittsburgh NFL League has built two pathways to make sure that does not happen. Whether your family is facing a financial barrier or just needs a little help covering registration, there is a route available to you. PNL believes every child in Western Pennsylvania deserves access to quality youth sports, and we back that up with real resources.
Step 1: Apply for the NFL FLAG Grant
The NFL FLAG grant program provides funding directly to families to cover registration costs. Apply first at pittsburghnflleague.com/nflflagfunds. Families who qualify can have registration fees covered entirely by the grant. This program is funded through the NFL FLAG national organization and is separate from Pittsburgh NFL League's own assistance program. Apply as early as possible because funding is limited each season.
Step 2: PNL Internal Financial Assistance
If your family applies for the NFL FLAG grant and is not approved, Pittsburgh NFL League has its own internal financial assistance program. This is a second layer of support specifically for families who have already gone through the NFL FLAG grant process. Contact us at info@pittsburghnflleague.com or call 412-513-5463 to start that conversation. We handle these requests directly and confidentially.
Free HerGame Camp for Girls
On Saturday April 4th, Pittsburgh NFL League is hosting a free HerGame Camp at Linton Middle School in Penn Hills. Ages 7-11 from 10AM-12PM, ages 12-17 from 12PM-2PM. No registration fee required. This camp is designed to introduce girls to flag football in a supportive, skill-building environment. Coaches will run drills, teach fundamentals, and give players their first taste of what the PNL All-Girls program looks like.
Why PNL Built These Programs
Pittsburgh NFL League has served Western Pennsylvania communities since 2004. Over more than two decades, we have seen firsthand how access to youth sports shapes a child's development. The relationships, the discipline, the teamwork, the confidence that comes from competing and improving are things every child deserves. Registration fees exist because leagues have real operational costs, but those fees should never be a wall that keeps a motivated kid off the field.
What Is Covered
Financial assistance and grant funding cover the registration fee to participate in the Pittsburgh NFL League spring season. Players still receive the same jersey, flag belt, and full season experience as every other participant. There is no visible difference between grant-funded players and other players on game day. That is intentional. PNL runs these programs specifically so that financial support remains a private matter between the family and the league.
If cost is not a barrier, register now at pittsburghnflleague.com. We will work with you either way. No child should miss out because of cost.
